Drew from SunSet High Desert)
As you know by now one of our
members, Aaron Strange passed away. I don't know
know how many of you guys up here in the desert
knew Aaron or how well you knew him but I just
wanted to relate to you some of the things that
make him someone that I will miss very much.
Aaron was someone that was very devoted to this
club and all its chapters. He was someone that
truly loved the sport of mini-trucking and his
love for it came through in willingness to go to
every show every event and every council
meeting. He was someone that would always want
to meet new people and get to know them, someone
that would always when he saw you come up to say
hello and engage you in a conversation. Someone
that was the first to show up for anything
whether it was a meeting, a show, and I swear
that man must have been the first one to council
every month cause I swear his truck was always
there whenever I showed up. He was a man that
was always interested in what you were doing to
fix up your car and always had a good idea that
you hadn't thought of, he was a soft spoken man
who I never heard raise his voice except to
laugh at something funny that someone would do.
Aaron was someone that loved going to runs and
he was someone that was great to go to runs with
cause I swear he had this sense of some sort
that always knew where the hot girls were, and
he always happened to have his camera ready when
they started to get naked (LOL). Aaron loved
being involved with the club and the council
serving as Historian for both Sunset Whittier
and for the council for as far back as I can
remember. I remember when I bought my old
Toyota pick-up the first thing Aaron said was that
he had a set of wheels that would look great on
it which spoke of his generous nature cause I
know that he could have gotten a better price
for them from someone else but sold them to me
cause he knew how good they would look on my
truck. I remember the river run when we waited
so long for our food that he made a joke at me
and I poured the ice from my glass down his
shirt, and all he did was laugh. I remember
when I won my first show trophy and he took a
picture of it that went up on the Whittier
website. I remember having conversations with
him at Office Depot on Whittier Blvd. and at
Daniels Tire before meetings. I remember being
in caravan with him going to cruise night and
hanging out with him at cruise nights. I
remember applauding the night he got his five
year award and feeling proud to get my award the
same night as him. There is so much that I
could go on about talking about Aaron.
SunSet is a family for me, and I
love all you guys like my family. I feel today
that I have truly lost a brother and comrade in
arms, I'm sorry for getting off track from
telling you about Aaron to relate some of my
experiences and feelings about him. Its just
that sitting here writing about it so many
things come rushing back to memory and I couldn't
help but share some of the experiences that make
Aaron Strange someone I will miss, and not just
me cause I know that all of us that knew Aaron
will say at a show or an event or at council or
at a club party or anything, that Aaron would
have gotten such a kick out of it and that there
would be a great pic to remember it by. I'm
going to stop now or I never will, thank you for
reading this and letting me express all these
things to you.
